Around the World

From my earliest years, even as a homeless little girl, staring up at the stars, and wondering what all of this is all about, I dreamed about traveling the world and discovering the beauty of life on this remarkable planet. At the time, those dreams felt impossibly far away. Yet by God’s grace, life unfolded in ways I could never have imagined. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to live in, and visit five of the seven continents, learning from people, cultures, and communities. Along the way, I’ve collected extraordinary stories of courage, generosity, faith, and hope. These journeys have shown me something simple but powerful: the world changes when people choose to love well at every opportunity. This page is an invitation to join that adventure.

Together, we can support remarkable individuals doing life-changing work, bringing clean water, medical clinics, education, fresh resources, and renewed hope to communities in need. If you’ve ever dreamed of being part of something bigger than yourself, this is your invitation. Every act of generosity helps to share encouragement, compassion, dignity, and opportunity to our neighbors around the world. Let’s continue the journey together.

Mongolia

I was blessed with the opportunity to travel to Ulaanbaatar to learn about the women who listen to a special radio program called "Hot Tea" in Mongolia. "Hot Tea" is a place to hear encouraging words, find community and gather from time to time in person for events like "Unconditional Love Day, every December 25th.

I learned about so many women who are single mothers, the problems with alcoholism and unemployment. Our team felt honored to learn these amazing stories of perseverance, grit and hope from women who choose to show up every day to take good care of everyone they can. Especially the many orphans in their community.

We were blessed to be able to bring their stories back with us to share so that others who wanted to be a part of the message of hope and love here in the United States could participate in helping to make sure that "Hot Tea" and other encouraging radio programs can continue to offer right on time hope over the airwaves.

As an avid reader who knows what it feels like to be a kid with little access to resources, this was one of those times when I knew I had to do something to help, so Batsetseg and I kept in touch to collaborate on ways that I might help to bring her dream to life. I'm so happy to share that the "Nobel Prizers Children's Library," now known as the "Nobel Laureates” Children’s Library" is open and has grown into a network of 10 libraries where kids who formerly had no place to gather to read, play and learn are now gathering for unforgettable moments of fun and friendship. Please check out the photos below, and if you'd like to donate to help with "Hot Tea" on WindFM, click here: FEBC. I hope this adventure blog inspires you. If there is a cause you care about, no act of kindness and encouragement is too small. God can take the tiniest acts of love and multiply them exponentially to reach the next generation, and make this world a better place, one tiny but mighty act of loving care at a time.

I was so honored to meet and become friends with Battseg, (Top row, 2nd from the left right above me) who loves to read and had a dream to open a library for the children. Her husband is an artist and painter who sold his original art on the streets to help fundraise for the books.

Their work inspired even the homeless in the community to help with the fundraising. They eventually sold their home to build a library for children.

“My hope has been restored, and our dream has come true! We dreamed of creating a place where children would fall in love with books, and maybe, one day, raise a Nobel Laureate from among them.” - S. Batsetseg

A New Hope

Yes, it's a Star Wars reference, I couldn't resist.

Puerto Rico

In 2017, Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico. Then on January 7th, 2020, a 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck the island.

The news stories broke my heart: Countless people were displaced, and life-saving resources were locked up in warehouses, tangled up in political red tape. Communities in chaos as they tried to recover and manage the devastating losses. When I learned that in 2020, there were still so many families and individuals who had yet to recover. And many who were who were sleeping outside due to the dangerous and unstable conditions of their homes. Multi-generational homes that were still missing walls, dripping ceilings, with black mold growing on the walls. I started praying about how I could help.

When I discovered that many of my friends from church and colleagues felt the same, we gathered to talk about practical ways that we could help. I was so thankful to join Team Ginger Creek World Engage. In time, our team was ready to go and do whatever we could to help, and return with the objective of inspiring others to keep the help coming.

We were blessed beyond measure to connect with and partner up with House of Hope Puerto Rico.

There we met Marilyn Arzon and Daniel Henderson, who had already been doing everything they could to provide resources to multiple communities.

During our time there, we worked to restore plumbing, repair damaged roofs and water tanks, and clean out homes that were still uninhabitable because of the damage.

Thanks to the team and listeners of Moody Radio Florida, Natalie Grant and Charlotte Gambil's Dare to Be Foundation, and our collective friends, family and colleagues back home, in addition to helping 1 displaced family return to their home, we were able to help complete the restoration of one family's severely damaged roof, and help to send resources directly to multiple communities. From non-perishable food, to clothes, toys, hygiene and cleaning supplies, medicine and much more.

We returned with new friends, unforgettable memories, and gratitude for the opportunity to share stories that no newscast could provide.

The full restoration work continues today, and when it comes to the things that you hear about that deeply touch your heart, and you know you want to do something to help, please remember, there is always something you can do to offer help, hope, and encouragement, because kindness is a superpower and no act or amount of loving care is too small. If you would like to find out how you can help, please visit House of Hope's Restoration of Homes page.

Because no act of loving care is too small.

Ghana

His objectives were clear: To help all to hear God's voice and be transformed. To spread the "Good News," by providing clean water, creating healthy spaces to live and gather, with clinics and ongoing encouragement to inspire, uplift and strengthen communities throughout West Africa.

This is why Reverend Theo Asare founded Theovision International in 1989. Theovision means God's Vision and their teams use their professional skills in sound engineering, radio, television, training, audio/visual production, and health care services to introduce communities into a relationship with God through Christ.

No matter what challenges or darkness we face, there is a light that shines and never fades.

Through their innovative TTEL Environmental Sustainability Project Theovision trains and empowers community members to upcycle the waste created in the environment into commercial artifacts to sell and generate an alternative stream of income. This project encourages and creates artisans and entrepreneurs to upcycle plastic bottles, sachet water rubbers into pencil cases, laptop bags, necklaces and other useful everyday items.

Trainees gain skills in sewing, handmade crafts and Macrame. Along with recycling by collecting and preparing the items the program encourages environmental sustainability and composting. Participants are then trained on how to bring these skills back to their communities.

Our Moody Radio team was invited to gather stories from those whose lives have been changed for good in many of the communities that have been impacted by the service, training and resources provided through Theovision International. We successfully reached our fundraising goals within one week of returning from Accra and the surrounding area. But more help is always needed and appreciated. Dominican Republic

Angelica (lower left corner) was a single mother who was pregnant and needed heart surgery. At the edge of hope, she prayed, and soon a team arrived to help. She was transported to the hospital, and though they didn't have an anesthesiologist on staff, the surgery was completed, and she and her son were saved. It was a miracle.

Today she smiles because she knows that God loves her and her son, and she is here to tell others that even when it seems like all is lost, there is always a reason to hope.

This was just one of the miraculous stories I heard from so many in the Dominican Republic on this trip. Another was from a man named Johhny (Upper left corner). Everyone said he would die.

The infection became so severe, he lost his ability to work, and couldn't stand or walk for months. Friends recommended the witch-doctors, but he didn't want any part of that. The hospitals were too far away and there was no way to pay for his treatments. So he stayed home and he and his family prayed.

For months, they waited and prayed. The skeptics regularly offered their opinions, but Johnny knew he'd heard from God and he knew he was going to be healed. In time, the condition improved, and he began to feel stronger. Then one day, the pain was gone. He sang for joy, praising God and asked for wisdom on how to help his family to financially recover. He got an idea: He loved to bake, and he created a recipe for a special cake he could make from home using his fire-pit stove. I called them "Johnny Cakes" and he laughed. He now sells the cakes from the front window of their home on a full-time basis and the business has grown into a town favorite. He loves telling people about the power of faithfulness and belief in the God who brings the impossible back to life every day.
